Model differences
Popur X5, X5 Core Bundle and S7: what changes
Popur currently sells two open-top automatic litter designs that share a brand but differ in their cleaning hardware: the X5 uses its open tray and 8 mm sifting filter, while the S7 is the newer Split Litter System with an open tray, a gravity sifter and an exposed transfer channel to a separate bin. The X5 Core Bundle is not a third machine; it packages the X5 with a plastic waste-bin base and named extra supplies. Choose the routine first, then compare the exact package.
Three offers, two cleaning systems
| Offer | What stays the same | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Popur X5 | One open-tray X5 machine; powered litter sifting | Standard 8 mm filter; standard package diagram shows cardboard bin base and cover; 2.4 GHz app connectivity |
| X5 Core Bundle | The same X5 machine, filter, dimensions and litter plan | Listed plastic waste bin, extra tray liner and a box of waste bags; one machine, not a double set |
| Popur S7 SLS | Open tray and separate waste collection, with clumping-litter separation | Split Litter System; included 6 mm sifter, deeper bed, integrated metal bin base, dual-band connectivity and app-based individual-cat data |
The package images and selector lists do not establish every color-specific kit. X5 base SKU “STD” and Core SKU “BUN” are Shopify option labels, not distinct technical model names. The S7 page lists black or white finishes and standard one-year or premium three-year warranty selectors. Confirm the selected offer and written warranty terms directly before purchase.
Fit the entry and cycle clearance, not just the box
Popur lists the X5 with its standard bin at about 21.2 inches wide, 30.4 deep and 18.2 high; the lifted tray needs approximately 25.3 inches of headroom. The S7 with its bin is listed around 20.5 inches wide, 29.1 long and 15.8 high, and its tray needs about 23.2 inches when raised. Their open entries still have thresholds: about 11 inches for the X5 with the fence and 10.6 for the S7 standard. An optional X5 top-entry wall or S7 guardrail changes the opening and increases height, so “open top” should not be used as a substitute for checking your cat’s actual access. Measure the room path, wall clearance, outlet and space to remove the bag as well as the cycle envelope.
Use compatible clumping litter and read fill instructions
Both offers are designed around clumping litter, not a promise to sift every material. The X5’s stock filter is 8 mm; its FAQ says pellet-shaped clumping litter should be small enough to pass. The S7 ships with a 6 mm sifter aimed at finer litter and smaller clumps, while 8 mm and 10 mm replacements are available for coarser granules. Select the screen for the litter you actually plan to use, rather than buying the machine first and assuming a wood pellet or non-clumping crystal will work. The manufacturer treats crystal litter as a poor match where urine is not clumped.
Published X5 maximum fill figures conflict across its page and FAQ, so the exact physical fill marks and current manual should govern. The S7 listing gives 8 liters/25 pounds as its maximum. Neither a large advertised bed nor the word “automatic” means the litter can be ignored: check clump quality, keep the tray topped up as directed and clean residue when needed.
Do not turn waste capacity into an absence plan
Both systems list an 11-liter bin. Popur advertises 30-day X5 and 35-day S7 waste-storage claims, with a one-average-cat basis for the X5 claim and the S7 FAQ’s varying-use caveat. The X5 FAQ specifically recommends changing its bag at least weekly and more often in hot conditions; higher use shortens the time between emptying. The S7 FAQ likewise says actual use, litter, diet and emptying frequency matter, and a busy household may need changes every few days. Neither headline is a travel guarantee or a substitute for enough separate litter stations in a multi-cat home.
Which choices change the match?
Choose X5 when you want its particular open-tray arrangement and 2.4 GHz app, do not need individual-cat tracking, and are comfortable with the supplied filter and exact bag routine. Choose Core only if the plastic bin base and its listed extra supplies are worth selecting; its cleaner, entry, dimensions and litter compatibility remain those of X5. Choose S7 when the separate split-system sifting, deeper tray, included 6 mm screen, dual-band Wi-Fi or app data about individual cats matter more. Popur says S7’s core cleaning can function without app or Wi-Fi, but individual activity data is an app feature, so an app-free setup and app-based tracking are not the same operating plan.
For all three, a hard minimum age or cat weight is a problem if it must be documented: the available exact sources reviewed here do not establish a reliable numeric automatic-use cutoff for these offers. Unknown limits should not pass an essential filter. If a kitten, mobility issue, crystal litter, narrow doorway or unattended-trip schedule is central, compare a model with a documented matching plan rather than inferring compatibility from promotional safety or capacity language.
