The manufacturer's title says multi-cat, but its reviewed support page does not give a numeric household capacity. The ‘Free 360’ package title does not identify an exact camera model.

A useful fit for

A fit candidate for a household that wants an enclosed front-entry rotating drum, compatible clumping litter, an app-connected operating option or local manual controls, and room for a powered cabinet and drawer service.

The main tradeoff

The maker's multi-cat wording has no numeric cat-count rating; footprint axes and numeric post-exit delay are not established, and stock/package content is inconsistent across captured sources. The cat must meet the age/weight minimum and enter a 9-inch-high opening.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the Purrclean suit the youngest cat's age and weight while keeping clumping litter?

The manual says over six months and over 2.5 kg. With whole-month and tenth-pound inputs, the profile conservatively requires seven completed months and 5.6 lb.

Does the manufacturer's multi-cat wording provide a numeric household-capacity rating?

No. The title says multi-cat, but the sources do not publish a numeric cat capacity; an essential count must remain unqualified.

Is a built-in camera confirmed for the exact Purrclean machine or its '+ Free 360' option?

No camera is confirmed for the machine. The selector's '+ Free 360' does not name an exact accessory, so it cannot satisfy a camera requirement.

The Instachew Purrclean is a powered, enclosed litter box built around a removable rotating drum. It can run through the Instachew Infinity app or in a local manual mode, but those are different routines: the maker says manual use does not provide the app features. I reviewed the manufacturer’s IC085A product page, current U.S. offer selector, support answers and bilingual instruction manual. I have not owned or hands-on tested it, so the advertised sensor and odor claims below remain manufacturer claims rather than test results.

A cabinet with a rotating drum, not an open globe

A cat enters through a round front opening into the enclosed drum. After use, the drum turns to separate clumping litter from waste and direct the waste to a lower bag-lined drawer. Unlike a crystal-tray rake, it avoids fitted disposable trays; unlike an open-top sifter, it requires the cat to enter a tall covered housing. A cat that avoids dark entrances should be allowed a patient transition with the old box left in place, as the manual advises.

Instachew lists its Infinity app, Wi-Fi at both 2.4 and 5 GHz, and Bluetooth setup. The app can schedule scooping, cleaning and deodorizing. The circular display and physical controls also allow manual cleaning without connecting the app; the support page cautions that app features are unavailable in that mode. This distinction matters if you want remote scheduling or records: a router-free household can still use the box, but it should not buy Purrclean expecting the phone controls to work offline. Conversely, if the cat area has weak Wi-Fi, physical controls are a genuine fallback rather than a promise of offline app access.

Fit limits need a conservative reading

The official manual says the intended cat should be older than six months and weigh over 2.5 kg; the product page uses the less strict phrasing “at least six months” and 2.5 kg. Because the finder accepts whole months, I use seven completed months rather than letting an exactly-six-month answer pass against the manual. I use 5.6 lb as the conservative lower weight threshold because the maker says “over” 2.5 kg and the questionnaire works in tenths of a pound; the help center gives an upper guide of 16 kg, which I round down to 35.2 lb. These are manufacturer limits, not an assessment of an individual cat’s comfort. The help center gives a 9-inch floor-to-opening height and 46 by 42 cm interior dimensions, but does not supply a confirmed entrance width. The manual’s overall 520 × 540 × 680 mm size is not labeled by axis, so measure the actual route and confirm orientation before relying on a tight footprint fit.

Despite “Multi-Cat” in the listing title, I could not find a numeric household-capacity rating. The support answer says the litter area holds up to 7 L and suggests cleaning at least weekly; that is not a cat-count rating or a dependable unattended interval. A separate answer says a 6 L litter bag can last 14 days, but that describes a litter refill claim, not the waste drawer’s capacity. I would treat weekly inspection and emptying as a baseline, then shorten the interval as the household’s use requires. If you require a box explicitly rated for two or more cats, this model should not pass that hard filter on the strength of its title alone.

Litter and care are part of the decision

Instachew recommends clumping litter and specifically names bentonite, mixed and tofu clumping litter. That is broader than a crystal-only rake but not a claim that every loose pellet or non-clumping litter will work. The waste drawer takes a Purrclean bag; the manual’s package drawing lists one roll and two deodorizer pieces. It also diagrams a deodorizing module, calls for the refill piece to be replaced about every 60 days or as needed, and shows the drum being removed, rinsed and wiped. Plan to handle that periodic teardown and keep the sensors and drawer area clean; the machine does not eliminate hands-on maintenance.

The company describes 12 safety sensors, with infrared and weight sensing to pause operation near a cat; the manual lists related sensor and motor fault codes. These are maker claims, not independent safety testing or a reason to ignore the age and weight directions. The unit is powered, so plan for an accessible outlet and room to pull out the waste drawer and remove the drum.

Check the exact package, not just the product title

The current selector lists the IC085A box, a three-piece box/deodorizer/bag package, versions bundled with an extended warranty, and a “Free 360” option. The product page does not identify the exact 360 device, so I do not count that option as a confirmed built-in camera or camera system. The separate Purrtection Plan says it combines the one-year manufacturer warranty with two additional years, and can be bought during the first year; it is optional coverage, not a second litter machine. Exact option availability is unsettled in the captured sources: the product page shows an in-stock message and a sold-out button, while its public variant data marks all five box offers unavailable. Check the live exact option and package contents before ordering rather than relying on a saved stock state.

Purrclean is most compelling if you want an enclosed front entry, a rotating drum, clumping litter and the choice between connected scheduling and local controls. Choose a crystal-rake model if you prefer a shallow tray and fitted crystal refills; compare open-top sifters if a portal is a poor fit for your cat. I would skip Purrclean when a numeric multi-cat capacity, a measured footprint axis, a guaranteed cat-identification camera, or a specific waste-drawer interval is essential: those facts are not established for this exact model. Its “smart” label is meaningful for app scheduling, but it should not substitute for the exact fit and package details your household needs.
