Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the open-top M5 suit a cat that needs an exposed rotating-sifter entry?
M5 is the open-top rotating-sifter design; it is not an enclosed globe, and scatter still depends on cat and placement.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the manual permit automatic operation for a six-month-old cat at least 3.3 lb?
The M5 manual states a 3.3 lb minimum and says not to use automatic cleaning for cats younger than six months.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the M5 support the maker-listed mineral clumping-litter plan without accepting tofu litter?
The M5 page lists mineral, bentonite and mixed litter and excludes tofu and crystal.

Cumrige M5 is a top-open rotating litter sifter. After a cat leaves, the chamber rotates to separate clumps from litter and sends waste into a sealed 10.5-liter drawer. Its open top is the defining difference from the enclosed M2 and M4: a cat has an uncovered route in and out, while an owner can see the litter bed more directly. That does not make it universally easier for a nervous cat, nor does it promise less mess. A cat that digs or exits quickly may scatter litter; the entry shape and placement should be weighed against those habits.
The product page gives a 21.65 by 20.47 by 21.1-inch size and a drum about 16.5 by 16.33 inches. The maker says the model supports two to three cats and claims up to ten days for its 10.5-liter drawer. Treat those as the company’s stated fit and duration figures, not independently measured results or a guarantee that a three-cat home can leave the drawer untouched for ten days. Emptying depends on actual use, litter and waste volume. If an exact household capacity is critical, M5’s published “2–3 cats” is more useful than marketing that simply says multi-cat.
Read cat limits and litter rules conservatively
The M5 page lists a 2.6–33-pound weight range, but the separate user manual is narrower: it gives a 3.3-pound minimum, a 27.5-pound upper guide, and says not to use automatic cleaning for a cat under six months. This review uses the manual’s more conservative limits for a hard fit question. A manual’s upper weight range still does not tell you whether the open chamber feels comfortable for a long or broad cat, so compare its dimensions with your animal’s posture.
Cumrige lists bentonite, mineral and mixed litter for M5 and specifically excludes tofu and crystal. The manual’s advice to use firm clumping litter matters because loose clumps can fall through the sifter or remain in the bed. The product page claims four weight sensors plus three infrared detectors. It also connects to the Tuya Smart App over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for status and control. A low-noise description is not a measured decibel result; choose by actual placement and sensitivity rather than assuming “quiet” means inaudible.
What daily use still asks of you
M5 arrives with setup, assembly and a fill-level routine; it is not a box to overfill and forget. Its manufacturer manual recommends a stable, hard floor and space around the machine, and the movable drum and waste bin still need periodic removal for cleaning. The sealed drawer contains collected waste; it does not remove the need to monitor fill, replace liners, wipe surfaces or check the machine after a pause. Leave the electronic base dry and follow the manual’s cleaning procedure. Automatic separation cuts the repeated scoop, but it cannot compensate for poor clumping or a cat that urinates against the sidewall.
The product page says app records can track use and sends alerts. That can be useful when you want a log from a phone, but it is not a diagnosis or evidence of accurate individual-cat identification. The M5 does not publish a camera or a numeric confidence measure for who used the box. Do not select it as a camera or health-monitoring substitute.
Who should compare M5 with E or M4?
M5 suits buyers who prefer an open-top entry, use the named clumping-litter types, want app reporting and have cats within the manual’s age and weight guidance. Its listed two-to-three-cat capacity and 10.5-liter bin are the main planning numbers. The Cumrige E also has an open top and a larger 15-liter waste bin, but the maker does not publish a numeric household capacity for that exact model. The M4 instead returns to an enclosed drum, has a shorter recommended cat fit and a manufacturer-stated three-cat limit. Do not assume similar appearance, a shared app name or an included accessory makes these configurations interchangeable.
