A useful fit for

Best considered by a household that accepts PETKIT's proprietary crystal litter/tray, wants an open uncovered rake rather than a rotating globe, and can meet the age/weight guidance while using the connected app.

The main tradeoff

The replacement tray/litter is brand-specific; no rated household cat capacity, maximum cat weight, separately labeled footprint axes or complete-cycle time is established. Camera event alerts are not medical findings, and full video playback is tied to Care+.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Will your cat use the exact PETKIT crystal-litter tray system?

The T7 manual requires the PETKIT Crystal Litter Set with its matching tray; other brands and litter types are not approved.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is your youngest cat old enough and clearly above the weight threshold?

The P9905 manual requires cats at least six months old and over 3.3 lb; do not use automatic mode for a younger or lighter cat.

Explore this need in the finder →
Do you need the app to identify each cat individually?

The product documents camera and usage events, but individual-cat identification for this exact T7 setup is not confirmed; a hard requirement for that feature should not pass.

The PETKIT Purobot Crystal Duo is not a small version of the company’s rotating globe boxes. It is an open-top, motorized rake over a disposable crystal-litter tray, with side waste traps and a camera. PETKIT identifies the white option as SKU T7 and the gray finish as T7-G; the user manual names the equipment as model P9905. A separate hooded option, T7-W1, adds a front-entry shell to the same P9905 cleaning system; this is a different entry plan, not a different rake.

Start with the litter and the room

The central decision is whether your cat will accept PETKIT’s own Crystal Litter Set. The manual explicitly rules out other brands or types of crystal litter, clay, and tofu litter, and says to use the matching crystal tray. This is not a box where you can pour in your preferred clumping litter or move to another disposable pan when supplies are inconvenient. The recurring routine is replacing the complete tray-and-litter set rather than emptying a drawer of clumps. If your household wants conventional clumping litter, compare the PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Smart only if its crystal-tray routine also appeals, or look at clumping-compatible rotating models such as the ScoopFree OpenSky or Neakasa M1 Plus.

The open tray makes the entrance visually and physically less enclosed than a globe. PETKIT lists a 7.08-inch entrance height, but no separate opening width. The P9905 product page gives overall base dimensions as 32.20 × 19.96 × 13.14 inches without labeling the individual axes; measure the actual space and leave room to reach the front and lift the tray rather than treating those numbers as a guaranteed width/depth fit. The hooded T7-W1 has a front-entry shell; its exact clear opening and mounted room envelope are not published separately, so keep those fit limits unknown.

What the rake does—and what it does not

After a cat leaves, a stainless-steel rake moves solids into two side traps while the crystal bed remains in the disposable tray. PETKIT describes four detection sensors and says the rake stops when a cat enters. This is a tray-raking action, not a rotating globe sifting clumps from ordinary litter. The mechanism is open and easy to inspect, but waste is still retained in the side traps until they are emptied or cleaned; an automated rake does not remove every maintenance task.

The advertised tray interval is not a dependable household promise. The manufacturer page says up to 30 days for one cat in one section, while another section says up to 45 days for “optimal performance,” and also cautions that age, weight, diet, and health change the interval. We would not use either maximum as a planning guarantee. Watch the tray indicator and the condition of the litter, and consider how often a disposable replacement is available and affordable to your household. The machine is also specified for cats at least six months old and over 3.3 pounds; it publishes no maximum cat weight or rated multi-cat household capacity in the reviewed manual. The app’s appearance of a “large cat” marketing image is not a numeric fit specification.

Camera features bring an app and privacy decision

The camera can provide a live view and event information, and the app supports alerts such as yowling detection. The maker describes urine-pH tracking with its separate urine-monitor crystal litter set; neither an alert nor a color change in test particles is a diagnosis. The manual says full video playback is a PETKIT Care+ cloud-service feature, so do not treat every advertised camera capability as included video history. It also documents controls to turn off the camera or schedule when it is active. If you want an unplugged, no-account box, this model is a poor fit: the manual says the app must be bound before the device is used for the first time, and installation calls for a stable Wi-Fi connection. The current product page lists 2.4- and 5-GHz support, but app software and subscription terms can change.

Keep expectations grounded

For a cat over the manual’s age and weight thresholds that accepts the exact crystal system, Crystal Duo offers a low, open approach and a simple visible rake-and-tray routine. It is less attractive if you need a manufacturer-rated multi-cat capacity, a numeric maximum weight, a known full-cycle time, a reusable tray, or a choice of ordinary litter. PETKIT does not publish the first three figures in the product specifications and manual described above. If one is essential, compare models whose makers give that limit. For multi-cat households or cats that need a proven entry measurement, compare published dimensions and limits on a conventional clumping model and keep a familiar tray available during a gradual transition.

White T7 and gray T7-G are finish options in the same open-top plan. The hooded T7-W1 is a separate covered configuration with its own assessment; the model still uses the same P9905 crystal tray and powered rake. Supply bundles have distinct option codes, so do not assume package contents are interchangeable merely because the product name is similar. Compare the T7-W1 hooded configuration assessment and open-versus-hooded guide if entry style matters. The manufacturer’s open Crystal Duo listing and P9905 user manual describe the base cleaning system.
