Model comparisons

Max Pro 2 or Max 3: camera, network and bundle choices

PETKIT model comparison

These two enclosed PETKIT machines both rotate a sifter over clumping litter. The practical differences are camera-based records, the Wi-Fi band, bin volume, age and fit constraints, and which exact package is on offer.

First confirm the same basic litter plan

The Purobot Max Pro 2 (model P9904, one-box SKU T5-2-C) and the Purobot Max 3 (model P9906, one-box SKU T4-3) use enclosed rotating drums and clumping litter. Each manual limits granule size to 12 mm long and 3 mm across; neither is a PETKIT Crystal Duo-style crystal tray with a disposable pan. Both use a bagged waste bin and need the owner to check and empty it. Neither has a manufacturer-published household cat-count rating. Do not interpret the Max Pro 2’s camera profile capacity or either model’s single-cat time estimate as how many cats the box is rated to serve.

Choose the camera only if the records are useful to you

The Max Pro 2 adds a fixed camera with weight-sensor support for individual profiles, video timelines and alerts. PETKIT says it can recognize as many as 15 profiles; full playback is tied to its Care+ cloud service in the manual. The camera can be scheduled or switched off in the app. Owners who want to see which cat used the box, or review activity while away, may value those records; those uncomfortable with an indoor camera may prefer a different design or to disable it. It is activity tracking, not a diagnosis. The Max 3 has no camera in PETKIT’s comparison, but supports weight-based recognition and visit history, so it offers app tracking without the video layer.

The network difference can decide the shortlist

PETKIT lists Max Pro 2 support for 2.4- and 5-GHz Wi-Fi; the Max 3 is listed for 2.4 GHz. Both require app binding before first use according to their manuals. A 5-GHz-only household should therefore consider the Max Pro 2, not assume the Max 3 will connect. PETKIT says the Max Pro 2 continues preset cleaning after a network interruption, but app records stop refreshing. That does not make network setup optional: the manual says to bind the device before use.

Compare fit, not just “larger entry” language

The Max Pro 2’s current listing says the entry is 43% larger than the older Max Pro, and its listed entry height is 10.03 inches. The Max 3 lists 8.03 inches. The Max Pro 2 might be easier for some cats to enter, but the listed floor-to-opening height is not a guarantee for a senior or short-legged cat. Its opening graphic gives two dimensions without clear axes. Overall, PETKIT labels Max Pro 2 as 25.86 × 21.18 × 23.74 inches; its manual lists the same first two numbers in the reverse order and leaves the axes unlabeled. The Max 3 also has conflicting page/manual footprint records. Neither should be selected from a tight-room maximum-width answer until you verify usable floor space and orientation from the current owner documentation.

Capacity is not the same as a bag interval

The Max Pro 2 has an 8-liter waste bin and PETKIT advertises up to 17 days for one cat; Max 3 has a 7-liter bin and a 15-day single-cat estimate. These are maximum manufacturer claims, not guaranteed emptying schedules. Visit frequency, litter and household use change the real interval, and neither figure covers a multi-cat vacation plan. Each machine’s manual prohibits automatic use for kittens under six months and cats under about 3.3 pounds. If a cat falls close to that rounded boundary, follow the more conservative manual limit.

Pick the package after choosing the machine

Max Pro 2’s one-box SKU includes the listed Fence 2.0. Its Odor Control Bundle adds three N50 2.0 refills and a stated two-year warranty; the Starter Bundle lists five bag rolls, three N50 2.0, three N60, two bags of clumping litter and the warranty. A separate Double Bundle contains two exact T5-2-C units. Max 3 similarly has supply and two-unit package listings. The supplies do not change the underlying drum, age/weight guidance, bin size or app behavior. For an exact two-box need, check the separately assessed package; two machines do not imply a manufacturer rating for twice as many cats.

Read the Purobot Max Pro 2 review for the exact camera and manual tradeoffs, or compare it with the Purobot Max 3 assessment and the separate Max Pro 2 Double Bundle review. Check both the current product SKU and the manual for the exact offer; related product pages can group reviews or images that do not describe the option you mean.
