A useful fit for

A household seeking an enclosed rotating sifter for compatible clumping litter, with cats meeting the maker’s age/weight guidance and access to 2.4 GHz app setup.

The main tradeoff

No numeric cat-count rating; the maker’s overall dimensions conflict with the linked manual; noise and Basic/Premium odor-module details also need caution. The app must be bound before first use.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you want an enclosed rotating sifter for compatible clumping litter rather than a crystal tray?

Yes if clumping litter within the manual’s particle-size limits is acceptable; Crystal Duo’s matching crystal tray is a different plan.

Explore this need in the finder →
Are all cats at least six months old and within the listed weight range?

The Max 3 manual prohibits automatic use below six months or below 3.3 lb; the current page gives an upper guide of 22 lb.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can you use the app over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for setup and reporting?

The U.S. page specifies 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and the manual walks through app binding before first use; a 5 GHz-only network is not confirmed.

Does this satisfy an essential built-in camera requirement?

No. PETKIT’s comparison distinguishes Max 3 weight recognition from the camera-equipped Max Pro 2/Ultra.

PETKIT’s Purobot Max 3 is an enclosed rotating sifter for clumping litter, not the open-tray Crystal Duo with a powered rake. Current U.S. product page specs identify P9906; its product record shows one storefront option, SKU T4-3. The linked manual also names P9911, but the listing does not map that code to a separate U.S. option.

Start with litter and the rotating chamber

The chamber turns to separate waste from reusable litter and drops clumps into a side waste bin. PETKIT specifies a 76-liter cylinder and a 7-liter bin. The U.S. page promotes compatibility with clumping clay, tofu, corn and bentonite litters, while the manual gives a physical boundary: do not use granules longer than 12 mm or wider than 3 mm. The page lists standard and fine magnetic sifters for larger or smaller particles. Choose the screen for the litter’s granule size rather than relying on a broad “most litters” marketing claim. This is not a crystal-tray system or a box for loose, non-clumping litter.

A lower entrance, with real size limits

PETKIT lists an 8.03-inch entrance height and a 10.51-by-10.74-inch entry size, but the entry-size axes are not labelled in the current comparison table. The stated automatic-use range is cats at least six months old and over 3.3 pounds, with an upper guide of 22 pounds. The manual explicitly prohibits automatic use for cats under six months or below 1.5 kg; its “kitten protection” option disables automatic and periodic cleaning rather than making an underage kitten suitable for unattended automatic operation. The listed entry height is not an individual-fit guarantee; measure the cat’s route and introduce the box gradually.

App tracking is not a camera

The current Max 3 comparison identifies weight recognition for multi-cat tracking, while PETKIT’s page describes separate usage and weight histories. The Max 3 does not have the AI camera feature that distinguishes the Max Pro 2 and Ultra in the same comparison. It connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE. The manual instructs owners to bind the machine in the PETKIT app before first use; the control panel handles basic functions but does not remove that setup requirement. Weight and visit records can make routine changes easier to notice, but they do not identify a health problem or replace veterinary care. PETKIT does not give a numerical household-cat capacity, so its multi-cat tracking feature should not be read as a rated number of cats or as a guarantee that the bin lasts the advertised single-cat interval in a busier home.

Check which odor-control package is actually offered

The manual covers both Basic and Premium versions. It says Premium includes the Breezy Smart Odor Eliminator, while Basic does not include that accessory or the N60 refill. The current U.S. product page has one default storefront option, T4-3, but its marketing copy and gallery present more than one odor-control component. That does not cleanly identify which manual package is in every current offer. We do not treat Breezy/N60 hardware as a guaranteed part of the T4-3 operating plan; confirm the box contents if those items matter. The 7-liter bin and bag routine remain relevant either way. PETKIT says it can provide up to 15 days for one cat, but that is a maximum marketing estimate, not a service schedule or a multi-cat travel guarantee. Check the bin and empty it when needed.

Several specifications need a cautious reading

The product page labels overall dimensions as 24.4 W × 21.2 D × 21.7 H inches. The current manual instead lists 21.25 × 24.21 × 21.96 inches without axis labels and warns that manual measurement can vary. Those records do not provide a reliable single width/depth mapping, so we do not use them to promise that the Max 3 fits a tight alcove. The product page also describes the machine as under 35 dB in one place and says 45 dB in its FAQ. With no independent sound measurement, either figure should be treated as unverified for a quiet room.

The manual describes a safety mode and also a “Continuous Rotation” option that prevents a pause when the device detects an approaching cat. That setting changes the normal sensor response; do not enable it casually or interpret the maker’s physical anti-pinch claim as permission to ignore an alert. For cleaning, power off or unplug first, remove the cylinder and sifter for washing, let parts dry fully and wipe the base rather than rinsing or submerging it. The screen, litter pad, bin and sensors still need regular checks.

Who should compare it with other designs?

The Max 3 is a reasonable candidate when an enclosed rotating chamber, clumping litter, an app-based weight/visit history and a lower listed entrance are more useful than a camera or open top. Skip it if a camera, 5 GHz-only network, confirmed compact footprint, crystal litter, a numeric multi-cat rating, or a guaranteed 15-day interval is essential. For an open-top clumping sifter, compare the PetSafe ScoopFree OpenSky; its rotating chamber remains open above, with a different litter and drawer routine. If the cat prefers an exposed tray and PETKIT’s specific crystal consumables are acceptable, the Purobot Crystal Duo uses a rake over a disposable crystal tray instead of this globe. The exact PETKIT U.S. listing and T4-3 manual are the places to recheck package contents and setup before choosing an offer.

One box or a supply bundle?

One white Purobot Max 3 shown with the Starter Bundle's litter, bags and odor-control supplies.
PETKIT Starter Bundle marketing composite; its product-page text, not the artwork, establishes each included quantity.

PETKIT’s separate Starter Bundle lists one Max 3 with five rolls of bags, three N50 2.0 and three N60 odor eliminators, four bags of flushable clumping litter and a two-year Max 3 warranty; the page also says a litter mat is already in the package. This adds supplies, not a different cleaning mechanism, and those extras are not confirmed in the one-box T4-3 listing. The separate Double Bundle is the two-machine purchase, not this supply kit.

Exact package suppliesThe current one-box U.S. product JSON has one option SKU T4-3; its listing does not identify Basic/Premium odor module contents, so do not assume Breezy/N60 hardware from the mixed page artwork. A separately listed Starter Bundle has its own SKU T4-3_N50-NEW_N60-3_TB2-5_T-Litter-4 and explicitly lists bags, three N50 2.0, three N60, four bags of flushable clumping litter and a two-year Max 3 warranty; its note says a litter mat is already in the package. A separate Double Bundle has package SKU T4-3_T4-3 for two machines and its own review. These extras are not assumed for the one-box package.
Litter and care limitsCurrent page promotes clumping clay, tofu, corn and bentonite options and shows standard/fine magnetic sifters. The current English manual prohibits granules longer than 12 mm or wider than 3 mm and warns not to fill past the cylinder MAX line. This is not the crystal-tray/rake mechanism.
Exact-model and package notesThe exact current U.S. one-box storefront option is T4-3, and the product page identifies model P9906. Manual also says P9911 but no separate current U.S. option is mapped. The Starter Bundle is a one-machine consumables package, covered by this machine review with exact package evidence below; the Double Bundle is two base units and receives a separate assessment.
