CATLINK Scooper Open-X Single-Cat vs Multi-Cat
The two current U.S. CATLINK Scooper Open-X product pages describe the same open-top rotating sifter, but the listings do not establish the same included app capability. This is a version comparison, not a claim that the cat’s experience, chamber or litter screen changes between editions. Read the exact listing and resolve the app feature before treating either title as a promise.
What both Open-X listings share
Both are open-top machines with a rotating globe, screen, waste drawer and CATLINK app connection. They use clumping litter that can pass through the screen. The U.S. product pages list a 12-liter waste drawer, a one-cat “up to 15 days” claim, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, an assembled size of 25.6 × 23.6 × 27.5 inches and a 13.8-inch entrance height. The manual for the shared CL-CH-01 hardware gives a smaller 585 × 534 × 592 mm figure and says specifications may vary. If a tight space or low step is a hard constraint, check measurements for the exact shipment rather than relying on the name or one drawing.
CATLINK’s manual says automatic mode is not for kittens below six months or 1.5 kg; its U.S. FAQ gives a slightly higher 3 lb 8 oz lower-weight guide and a 22-pound upper guide. A conservative automatic-use plan is six months or older, 3.5 pounds or more, and no more than 22 pounds. The manual and product-page FAQ also disagree on the default cleaning delay—five versus three minutes—even though both describe adjustable timing. Check the actual setting after app setup.
Single-Cat edition: the clearer one-cat configuration
The exact Single-Cat Open-X assessment covers the U.S. listing whose page says it is for one-cat households; Shopify lists the black unit as CL-CH-01-black-1. The page says multi-cat recognition can be unlocked later, but the included capabilities for a single-cat buyer are not the same as an included multi-cat profile feature. This is the simpler choice only if a one-cat routine is acceptable and the added tracking is not essential.
Multi-Cat listing: verify what “Multi-Cat” means
The Multi-Cat listing assessment records the dark-gray and white product variants as CL-CH-01-black and CL-CH-01-white. The title and collection call it Multi-Cat, but its product details also say it is designed for single-cat households and explain that multi-cat recognition can be unlocked after purchase. The page does not clearly state whether the named Multi-Cat version arrives with that unlock included. If the app must distinguish which cat used the box, ask CATLINK to confirm the software feature for the precise item in writing. The finder treats that capability as unknown rather than inferring it from a title.
Do not assume the “Double Set” means two
CATLINK also advertises a Scooper Open-X Multi-Cat Double Set. Its page title says Double Set and its variant SKUs repeat the base Open-X code, but the “What’s in the Box” section names one Scooper Open-X. That leaves the actual quantity unresolved. If you need two units, verify the shipped count and exact SKUs with the seller before ordering; a title is not enough to decide the package.
When a different mechanism is the better answer
The Open-X can make sense if your cat prefers a visible, open-top entrance and accepts a moving litter chamber. It is not a low-sided tray: the 13.8-inch step may be a poor fit for a cat with limited mobility, and a separate ramp is not part of the standard package. The PetSafe ScoopFree OpenSky is another open-top rotating sifter with an 8.5-liter drawer and a documented 33-pound upper guide. The enclosed PetSafe SmartSpin uses a different entry shape. Compare each cat’s litter, entry height, cleaning tolerance and household capacity before choosing; “open” describes the chamber, not whether the machine is maintenance-free.
