Exact U.S. Multi-Cat product-page listing; dark-gray SKU CL-CH-01-black and white SKU CL-CH-01-white. The page’s title and body conflict about multi-cat status, so included individual-cat tracking is not treated as confirmed.

A useful fit for

A household considering an open-top rotating sifter with clumping litter and dual-band app connectivity, after confirming the exact included cat-tracking software and whether the single-cat limitation applies.

The main tradeoff

The page title says Multi-Cat, but its product details also call it single-cat-only and describe a separate multi-cat unlock. Included individual-cat tracking and numeric multi-cat capacity therefore remain unconfirmed; physical dimensions also conflict with the manual.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the Multi-Cat listing fit an open-top, clumping-litter and app requirement?

Yes, those functions are stated for the listing; check exact litter particle fit and do not assume its cat-tracking title confirms the license.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the listed single-cat operating boundary fit a one-cat household?

The same product page calls this a single-cat-only version even though its title says Multi-Cat; the conservative listed capacity is one cat.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can this version be confirmed to include individual-cat records without an app unlock?

Not from the current page: the Multi-Cat title conflicts with single-cat and paid-unlock wording in the product details. Treat the included feature as unknown.

Does a 3.5-pound cat at six months meet the conservative automatic-use boundary?

Yes; both the manual age rule and the stricter U.S. FAQ weight guide are met.

An open-top sifter, with a version question to settle first

The CATLINK Scooper Open-X is an automatic rotating litter chamber with an open top. A screen separates clumps from reusable litter and sends waste to a drawer below. Unlike a fixed pan, the litter bed moves during cleaning; unlike an enclosed globe, the cat does not enter a tunnel-like sphere. The exact U.S. listing is titled “Scooper Open-X (Multi-Cat)” and offers dark gray and white CL-CH-01 variants. The pages do not describe a different mechanism by color.

Do not assume that the Multi-Cat label proves which tracking functions arrive enabled. This page calls the product multi-cat in its title and marketing, then says the version is designed for single-cat households and that multi-cat recognition can be unlocked in the app after purchase. It does not clearly say whether that unlock is already included with this listing. The separate Single-Cat listing repeats the same unlock language. If per-cat records are essential, ask CATLINK to confirm the software configuration included with the exact order before buying. The available evidence is not specific enough to promise individual-cat identification or a numerical multi-cat capacity, so those are not treated as confirmed here.

Room for a cat to turn, but not a low step

The top opening avoids an enclosed entrance and leaves the litter surface visible. It may help a cat that resists covered boxes, but the powered device still has a raised, moving globe—not a shallow tray or a guarantee that an anxious cat will accept it. The current U.S. page lists a 25.6 × 23.6 × 27.5-inch assembled body and 13.8-inch entrance. That is a substantial step for a small or mobility-limited cat, despite broad “senior and kittens” marketing. CATLINK sells a separate Open-X-compatible ramp; it is not included in the litter-box package. Check the threshold and do not assume an add-on is in your box.

There is a measurement discrepancy before you plan a tight alcove. The CL-CH-01 manual lists 585 × 534 × 592 mm and says specifications can vary by model or batch, while the U.S. listing gives the larger assembled dimensions above. These are unreconciled. Start with the U.S. listing, leave service clearance and confirm the exact shipment if every inch matters. The manual’s 21.4-pound figure is the unit weight; the roughly 48.5 pounds on the U.S. page is packaged weight.

Litter and cycle settings are part of the choice

CATLINK’s product page says clumping litter; its FAQ warns that particles must pass through the screen and excludes non-clumping, wood pellets, newspaper and long tofu pieces. The manual’s app setup names bentonite and mixed litter. Begin with a small-particle clumping litter, not an assumption that every clumping texture will sift cleanly.

The cleaning delay is another point to check in the app: the multilingual manual says five minutes by default, while the FAQ embedded on the current U.S. product page says three minutes. The manual also lists timer and manual-cleaning modes and says the timer can be adjusted. Since those official descriptions conflict, do not plan around either delay until you confirm the setting on the exact unit. The manual requires Kitten Mode for a kitten younger than six months or below 1.5 kg; CATLINK’s U.S. FAQ separately sets a 3 lb 8 oz lower weight and 22 lb upper guide. To respect both sources rather than the more permissive reading, use automatic operation only for a cat at least six months old and at least 3.5 lb, and within the manual’s 22 lb upper guide. For a smaller or younger cat, do not rely on an automatic cycle; use the maker’s kitten/manual setting and supervise the transition.

Capacity claims are not an emptying schedule

CATLINK lists a 12-liter drawer and up to 15 days for one cat. Treat that as a capacity claim, not a multi-cat schedule or a reason to leave the box unchecked. Empty as needed, and clear the drawer before using the full-empty command to prevent overflow.

For setup, attach all four legs, use a level hard surface with space around the unit, fit a liner smoothly and install the screen. The manual calls for four liters of litter and leveling after a refill. The globe, side covers and bin can be washed and must dry fully; the powered base should only be wiped. That is more involved than pulling a rake tray or replacing a disposable crystal tray.

Connected features, safety and alternatives

The Open-X connects over 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi; the manual says hotel or airport networks with special authentication are unsupported. App history may help flag a routine change, not diagnose a health problem or prove which cat used the box. The page describes weight, infrared and anti-pinch sensors plus an incomplete-gear design. Those claims do not replace a gradual introduction or the stated limits.

The PetSafe ScoopFree OpenSky is a useful comparison if you want another open-top rotating sifter: its documented upper cat-weight guide is higher, but its drawer is smaller and its connected plan uses 2.4 GHz. If a cat accepts a covered chamber, the SmartSpin is a different enclosed-clumping option. The Open-X Multi-Cat listing is most relevant when you want the open-top format, clumping litter and dual-band app access; it is not a clear fit if you need a confirmed cat-count rating or individual-cat tracking included. Resolve those version details before treating the name as a feature guarantee.
